2023 Candidates

 

On Wednesday, September 20, 2023, City Council passed a resolution to cancel the general election and declare each unopposed candidate elected to office. The following candidates have been declared elected officials beginning on January 1st, 2024.

 

The following individuals have filed to be candidates in the Toquerville City Municipal General Election to be held on November 21st, 2023.

A Primary Election will not be held, due to the number of candidates.

Public notice is hereby given to inform residents of Toquerville City that there will be a municipal election for the following five offices:

Mayor (2-year term)

City Councilmember (2-year term)

City Councilmember (2-year term)

City Councilmember (4-year term)

City Councilmember (4-year term)
 

The constitutional and statutory qualification requirements for municipal office are:

1. An individual elected to municipal office shall be a registered voter in the municipality.
2. An individual has resided within the municipality for the 12 consecutive months immediately before the date of the election.
3. An individual shall maintain a principal place of residence within the municipality during the officer's term of office.
4. Shall comply with the requirements described in Utah Code Section 10-3-301 and 20A-9-203.
 

If you are interested in being a candidate and meet these qualifications, you may fill out a Declaration of Candidacy form, in-person, with the Toquerville City Recorder, during the candidacy filing period, which is Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 8:00 a.m. through Wednesday, June 7, 2023 by 5:00 p.m., excluding the weekend. 

 

Declaration of Candidacy paperwork will not be available until the declaration period and cannot be submitted prior to, or after, the filing period. 

 

Primary Election, if needed, will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. The General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023

The Municipal Elections will be Vote-by-Mail and Toquerville City Hall will have a drop-box where you may drop off your ballot during regular office hours, Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
 

Any in-person voting on Election Day will be held at the Hurricane Community Center 63 S 100 W Hurricane, UT and the Dixie Convention Center 1835 Convention Center Dr. St George UT.  Polls open at 7am and close at 8pm on Election Day.

This Vote Center will have an electronic voting machine available to assist voters with sight or mobility issues. An individual with a disability who is not able to vote a manual ballot by mail may obtain information on voting in an accessible manner from the county’s website (Election Info) or by contacting the county clerk at (435) 301-7248 or send an email to elections@utah.gov.
